Seven Card stud, stud h/L & razz poker book reviews
There are several professional Stud poker players that have published books on 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud H/L and Razz poker. This page will provide a review for each of these books. To be honest I'm not a big fan of "poker strategy" books because of the abundance of solid strategic information you can find on web sites like this one. The purpose of this web site however is to help you become the best Stud poker player possible so if that includes providing you with information about these books than that is what I am going to do. Some of these books are excellent resources for the Stud poker games and in the end they are quite cheap when bought from places like Amazon. I've only read a few of these books myself so for some of them I will be basing my review on the feedback I've received from my readers and others in the Stud poker community. 7 Card Stud For Advanced Players
David Sklansky wrote this book in 1999 so it is somewhat dated but many of the most respected 7 Card Stud players swear that this is the only 7 Card Stud strategy book you will ever need to read. I read it several years ago and was even motivated to write a complete review of it for this web site.
High-Low Split Poker - 7 Card Stud H/L & Omaha H/L
This book was written by Ray Zee in 1992. It covers both 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo and Omaha Hi-Lo so it may not be for everyone. I borrowed this book from a friend and read the first few chapters. It is geared towards advanced players but I found many of the concepts discussed in the book to be in the beginner - intermediate range. On a scale of 1 through 10 I would give this book a 6.
Play Razz Poker To Win
This is one of the only respectable Razz poker strategy books available today. It is much more current than the two books mentioned above. Mitchell Cogert wrote this book in 2008 and it is currently the best selling Razz poker book on the market. The thing I love about this book is it also covers Razz poker strategy from a H.O.R.S.E poker players perspective. As I've said countless times on this web site, HORSE poker players, and mixed poker fans in general, are terrible at Razz poker. There is so much easy money to be won during the Razz rotation. I highly recommend this book. The mixed game setting has changed drastically since 2008 and now new hybrid mixed games like 8-Game Mix and 7-Game Mix have become the most popular mixed poker variants. The strategies covered in the book work for both of these games as well because they each include Razz in addition to 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud HL.
