Mechanical differences
There are obvious mechanical differences between the two games. In Omaha Hi Lo there will be five community cards in the middle of the table at the end of a hand. These cards are for all players to use and construct the best possible low hand and the best possible high hand. In Seven Card Stud Hi Lo players do not share any community cards, rather each player will end up with Seven Cards from which to make their hand. Four of the cards will be face up and three cards will be face down. The first two cards dealt are face down and the last card dealt is face down. In Omaha Hi Lo each player is dealt four cards of their own, but there are special rules on how they can be used. Each player must use exactly two cards from their hand and exactly three cards from the board of community cards. There is no exception to this. The good news however is that players can use two different cards from their hand of four to make each their high and low hand.
