H.O.R.S.E poker contains 3 Stud poker variations so a strong Stud player can do quite well. This article covers some of the basics of H.O.R.S.E poker. One mixed game of poker, Horse poker, can truly test the skills of any player. A player must be well-rounded in order to succeed at becoming a strong horse poker player because there are five games involved in horse. Those games are holdem, Omaha, razz, seven card stud hi, and eights or better seven card stud hi/lo. Becoming good at horse poker essentially means that you master most of the games that are included in horse poker play, which means that horse poker is a game that separates the true poker players from the novice hobbyists.

Horse Poker Rules – Learn them All

Playing H.O.R.S.E poker means that you must mentally learn and apply all of the rules and guidelines that govern each of the five horse games when you sit down for a match. Many poker players find this the most challenging aspect of horse poker because it is difficult to be proficient at all games. For instance, many people are very strong holdem players but may be a little shakier when it comes to razz or seven card stud high. That’s what makes horse poker so interesting – it is one game where you must show that you can “walk the walk” instead of just “talk the talk”.

    Beginning Horse Poker Players

It is most likely a good idea for new horse poker players to choose at a table that is playing lower limit games until they are proficient in the skills that are required to become a profitable player of this unique game. With each new move of the deal around the table, a new game will begin. Once you are comfortable with that quick change from one game to the next, you will become well-versed in changing your game face for each new challenge. Many beginners find that being more assertive during the rounds when a more familiar game is being played is their best strategy for horse poker. On the flip side, if a player is weaker when playing a particular game then they can practice more timid play and watch how other players handle the game to become stronger. Being prepared to switch between games is the hardest part of actual horse poker play, and this type of play also makes it more difficult for you to understand the actions of your fellow horse poker opponents.

    Multiple Horse Poker Strategies

The very best advice that can be given to any horse poker player is learning multiple strategies that can be effective for each individual game that makes up the horse game. One way that is very effective in achieving this goal is practicing each of the five individual games as much as possible to hone your skills. One of the main reasons that not everyone will be a good horse poker player is that not all players have the time, inclination, or available money to become a master of all the games. But in the case of horse poker, practice really does make perfect.

Keeping Your Guard up in Horse Poker

Another thing to remember about horse poker is that while it is important to know your personal strengths and weaknesses, it may be even more crucial that you know your opponents’ weaknesses and strengths, too. While you can always save the bulk of your bankroll for the rounds that features your better suited games during horse poker, knowing if a certain player has trouble with a certain horse variation is information that can be used to your advantage.
