    Poker VIP programs are a required offering now to attract and retain online poker players. With almost every top room in the world now offering some sort of Frequent Player Points (FPP) or VIP (Very Important Player) program, you should learn how to maximize the rewards that they offer. Seven card stud players tend to generate less FPP’s/hour but overall tend to play more hours/week so these points will add up.

    One day not too long ago, you signed up a poker room online and made your first deposit, got a deposit bonus and played poker. Pretty simple, right? That was back when there were only a few online poker rooms and essentially they would just advertise, players would come and play, and the poker room collected their rake. Everyone was happy so the status quo reigned supreme.

    So many VIP programs, so little time

    Today there are literally hundreds of online poker rooms all trying to get your action (rake). Outside of the normal promotions like deposit bonuses and freerolls, most offer some variation of a loyalty program. The vast majority of them issue points for each raked poker hand that you play. They also reward you for playing tournaments by issuing a corresponding point value with the amount of “vig” you pay to enter the tournament (an example would be a $50+5 tourney, with the extra five being the “vig”).

    If you wish to focus on building your poker bankroll and your VIP point balance at the same time then multi-tabling is a great way to do this. The same math that applies to your bankroll is valid here as well. In other words if you’re playing four tables and your average earn rate is 1.5 VPP’s per hand, then you will earn 6 FPP’s per hand with four tables running concurrently.     Find the program that’s right for you

    Assuming you’re not a million point producer (yet) there are still many programs that offer great prizes, seats to major live events, and outright cash bonuses. Absolute Poker, Full Tilt Poker, and Pokerstars are just a few examples of other great VIP programs being offered. So remember to check out the specific offering of the next room you look to join because you may be surprised at the other rewards awaiting you aside from the giant poker bankroll that you’ll build playing online poker.
