On May 11th, 2010 Pokerstars will be hosting the largest 7 Card Stud Hilo tournament so far this year. There are actually 3 separate tourney’s with each having a massive guaranteed (GTD) prize pool, $300,000 total for all three! These 3 Stud HL tournaments are part of the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). Overlays are expected and so are the professional Stud HL players. Here is the skinny on each tournament.
ATTN: Stud Poker Players – Read our overview of the 7 Card Stud SCOOP tournament.
The low buy-in Stud HL tournament will have a $22 buy-in and a $50,000 GTD prize pool. This will be the WSOP for micro to small stakes Stud Hi-Lo players. I expect the competition to be quite soft or this tournament. Regardless of which event you play in, read our 7 Card Stud HL tournament strategy article before you sign-up!
This is where the medium stake Stud HL players will be. I personally plan on playing in the small and medium event at the same time. They both start at 17:00 ET. If I manage to win a satellite or feeder I will also be playing in the high event as well. The medium buyin tourney has a GTD prize pool of $100,000! That is a lot of money for a Stud HL tournament. The competition here will be much stiffer since it has a $215 buy-in. An overlay will attract many fish though so that is something to keep in mind.
This years Stud HL Main Event during the SCOOP series will be a $2,100 buy-in tournament with a $150,000 GTD prize pool. To reach the guaranteed amount the tournament needs around 71 players. $2,100 is a lot of money and Stud HL isn’t the most popular game so I think an overlay is virtually guaranteed. I expect some of the biggest names in the Stud Hilo community to play in this event as well.
Stud players will receive a 100% match on the first three deposits they make, up to $600. This is an amazing bonus format because it allows small time players to get a large combined bonus, instead of just a bonus on their 1st deposit, which tends to be small anyway. Most “new” online poker players I know will not make a large initial deposit on something they are still skeptical about. To claim this bonus you must follow the directions below:
Pokerstars is one of the few rooms to accept players from the USA. You’ll be amongst 300,000+ players at the tables during peak hours. They also have the fastest cashouts and best deposit methods for US players.
- Signup for a free account and enter the marketing code PSP11820 (last page of the registration process, click “Friend Referral”). When you are at the deposit screen enter the bonus code STARS600.
