Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS XVII started today. This 2-day tournament series has a massive $2,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools. Tomorrow at 21:00 ET the first Stud poker tournament in the series will take place. This is a $200+16 buy-in 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo event with a $100,000 prize pool. This Stud 8/b tournament starts in 25 hours and the playing field sits at only 26 players. That’s only around $5,000 in buy-ins, meaning this tournament currently has an overlay of around $95,000. Aaron Bartley will be hosting this Stud 8b tournament and Ester Rossi will also be competing. If you knock either of these Red Pro’s out of this event you will receive the buy-in back as a bounty. There will likely be at least several more Red Pro’s competing in this event as well.
I’m estimating that the overlay for this event will be around $75,000. That means that each $200 buy-in is really worth around $500. On Monday Full Tilt Poker hosted a Seven Card Stud 8/b tournament with the same buy-in but the guaranteed prize pool was only $5,0o0. This event only had 26 players. Tomorrow’s event will have the same buy-in but the GTD prize pool with be 20X higher! There just are not that many high stakes Stud Hi-Lo players at Full Tilt to even cover half of the guarantee, which is +EV for you guys.
There will be a similar tournament for both 7 Card Stud and Razz poker in the coming days and overlays are expected. I will post a blog post about ach of these events.
If you don’t have $200 in your account to buy into this event you can take advantage of feeder sitngos and tournaments. Buy-ins for these satellites start as low as $8 so everyone who wants to play can. With $100,000 up for grabs I can’t imagine why any serious Stud 8/b player would miss it.
