Some tips for playing Stud Poker at multiple tables simultaneously. Stud, Razz and Stud HL tend to be slow and somewhat boring at times so playing at 2-3 tables at once can be +EV for skilled 7 Card Stud poker players.

Back in the “old days” of poker, you played one hand, one table at a time. However, with the advent of online poker rooms this changed several years ago. While it’s not clear which poker room was the first to offer multi-tabling options, what is clear is the benefits one will receive from learning this strategy. Dur to the slow nature of Stud Poker most players find multi-tabling to be an excellent way to increase revenue.

The term multi-tabling means that a player is seated at more than one table during his online session. Not to be confused with a MTT (Multi Table Tournament), it just means that a player may be sat at as many as 4,8, or more tables. An effective multi-tabler can increase his profits accordingly based on how many tables he’s playing at once. Let’s dive in and talk about how to maximize your time spent playing online leveraging this strategy.

You play how many tables at once?

If you’re new to this, you have to take baby steps before diving in with a multiple monitor setup playing 32 tables simultaneously! Of course, the natural suggestion is to play two tables at once, progress to three, then four and so on. The primary objective as you increase the number of tables you can effectively play is to get a cadence going.

In other words, you’re setting up the screen accordingly to view the tables, and you’re able to navigate well with your mouse as you click the various actions (fold, bet, raise). For beginners, you’re well advised to try a limit variant of your game as it tends to be more “mechanical” and less prone to a mis-click. Some of the greatest multi-tablers play upwards of 32 tables at once over multiple poker rooms, with multiple monitors.

Technology plays a big role for the successful multi-tabler

Of course, it’s almost impossible to read players when you’re against 8, 16, 24, 32, or more players spread across many tables. Again, this is why limit games are popular for multi table players. However, there are tools available that are of great value to any player, especially the multi-tabler. By using a tool such as Poker Office you can overlay the stats collected on your opponents. With this critical information, you can quickly surmise whether a player is prone to a check-raise or will fold to a four bet based on the flop. Poker Office and other similar tools can provide you with this information in an easy to read, logical manner. This becomes paramount as you factor in the time bank that almost all online poker rooms use to keep the action going.

The well equipped multi-tabler

The successful multi table player will ultimately wind up with a powerful PC or Mac to ensure that the games don’t slow as more tables are opened. A multiple monitor set up of at least two or more monitors compliments this, ideally you will only have 4-6 tables per monitor so that you can avoid overlap. Don’t forget to use the latest odds software such as Poker Office or Poker Tracker with the overlay feature. It’s critical that this information is at your fingertips! You can’t close a screen to go check stats on a player when multi tabling.

So remember to take baby steps, start with a limit variant, and when your bankroll can afford it make the move to more tables. This is often more beneficial than just stepping up limits, as the player level stays the same and you’re able to spread your bankroll over more than one table at a time. It can really pay off in the long run as long as you stick to your game plan.

For those poker players that don’t like to play cash games PokerStars is running a number of tournament promotions for their 40 billionth hand promotion. The famous Sunday will have a guaranteed prize pool of a massive 4 million dollars on February the 21st with the winner taking home a minimum guaranteed amount of 1 million dollars. If that doesn’t float a PokerStars players boat they can also play for a share in $40,000 twice a day for just a 40 FPP buy-in.

Sit and go players shouldn’t feel left out as there is a slice of action for them as well. A number of special tournaments will run at buy-in levels $1.10, $11, $22, $55. The winner of each of these special sit and go tournaments at each level will share $40,000 between the other winners at that level. Tournaments will run between the 14 of February to the 21st.
A look at the newest way to play poker online; Rush Poker. Full Tilt Poker accepts U.S. players and is the only place to play the new Rush Poker format. Full Tilt is also the second largest poker room and offers amazing Stud poker action.

There’s a new card game in town. Rush Poker is now available at Full Tilt Poker, and let me tell you, it’s taking off like a rocket. Players are flocking to the Rush tables left, right, and center. Rush injects a much-needed dose of fun into the online poker experience. No wonder it’s becoming more popular by the second.

What is Rush Poker?

First and foremost, it’s fast. A few hands of Rush Poker will leave you scratching your head wondering where the time went. Essentially, Rush gives you the ability to skip through any crappy hands you don’t want to play. Instead of having to wait for everyone at the table to make their decisions, you can fast-forward through any given hand, and begin a new one instantly.

Rush Poker doesn’t change the rules of poker. If you sit in for a game of Rush Holdem, all the regular Holdem rules apply. If you sit in for a game of Rush Omaha, it’s still Omaha. The main change is in the structure of how you act.

Rush Poker: The Details

When you join a game of Rush Poker, you’re added to a large pool of players. A player pool can range from 300 to thousands of people. You’re then seated at a table, along with a randomly selected group of opponents, all chosen from the pool. The game gets really interesting once the cards are dealt.

Once you’ve got a hand, you have an opportunity to either stick around and play, or to “quick fold”. This is probably the main feature of Rush Poker, and its awesomeness really cannot be overstated. Quick fold allows you to ditch your hand immediately-even before it’s your turn to act-and leave the table. New cards are just seconds away.

Once you’ve quick folded, you’ll be re-seated at a different table, with a new group of randomly chosen opponents. Quick fold allows you to literally fast-forward through the muck. No more long, drawn-out waits while donks battle each other for the blinds. Simply toss ‘em and get on with playing.

For example…

You’re dealt 74 offsuit in middle position. Chances are-hopefully!-that you don’t want to play the hand. You press the quick fold button, while the player under the gun is still running down his time clock. Presto-your 74 offsuit disappears, and you’re transported to a brand new table. You’re dealt pocket kings on the button, and you win lots of cash.

Cool, huh?

What about the blinds?

You’re probably asking yourself how the blinds are decided, given that player selection is totally random in Rush Poker. It’s pretty simple, and it’s totally fair: at any given table, the player who has gone the longest without posting the big blind is chosen to post. The small blind is always truly random.

Thus in the long-term, blind selection in Rush Poker works exactly the same way as it would in regular-paced poker. Every player will post the blinds an equal amount of times.

What’s the downside?

I can’t find one. Just to review, Rush Poker allows you to:

Skip past any crap hands you don’t want to play.

Play against new players every single hand. No more annoying regulars abusing their PokerTracker stats.

Avoid having to wait for slowpokes.

Play a lot more hands in an hour than you’re able to at a regular-paced table… Hellooooo rakeback!

Play the exact same poker game you’ve always played-equally as fair and balanced-at a faster pace.

If there’s a downside, I don’t see it, and quite frankly, neither does anyone else. The Rush Poker player pool is growing bigger by the day. Players of all skills are making the transition, and they’re sticking around. Rush Poker is a no BS card game, tailored towards those who want to play a fast game.

Remember back when online poker was still a baby? Remember when Chris Moneymaker won the WSOP, and the tables exploded with action? Rush Poker has the potential to cause a boom just as big as that one. Start playing today, and get good while the game is young!

Play Rush Poker - Use the referral code STUDBONUS for a 100% match up to $600.

This post will teach you how to manage your poker bankroll. In addition to playing within your limits you this article also covers several other concepts that will help you become a winning Stud poker player.

One of the biggest skills that any 7 Card Stud poker player must possess is the ability to manage their bankroll and maintain focused on doing so. Failure to remain focused on your bankroll is the main downfall of so many new players who take to the virtual poker tables.

It is a well known fact that a poker players bankroll strongly dictates not only the stakes of play that the player can entertain but also how a player will approach a situation while playing a hand.

An example of this would be a player who has had a rough time at the tables and has lost a significant amount of their funds will be less likely to take a risk than if their session was profitable up to that point due to the fear of losing more funds.

Many players who begin to start their poker playing experience online have revealed that a large factor to them being willing to invest a large amount of their money into an online poker room is that fact that there is such a big return should they win at the tables.

So what are the 4 main points that you need to remember when you are trying to manage your bankroll effectively?

Stay within your limits

One of the biggest downfalls of a number of poker players who ihave freshly deposited into an online poker room is the fact that their desire to win big money in a short amount of time sees them heading to a table that is too rich for their investment.

There are no set guidelines as to what stakes a player should look to play depending on their investment but players should remember that poker is a game that can go in may ways, so placing their whole bankroll onto a table is not recommended.

Taking your whole bankroll into a poker game means that should you have a bad session, you will find yourself with nothing left in your account and the need to re-deposit into the site before you can look to recover your losses.

Maintain your bankroll mentality

The whole aim of playing online poker is to be successful and to turn a profit from your initial investment but it has to be remembered that while being sat at a poker table there is a huge possibility that you are going to come across players who are stronger than you or that you will run into a spell of bad luck where the cards just don’t seem to want to fall for you.

A number of players fail to remember this and so their losses lead them into a situation where they lose their head and forget about their bankroll management, flooding more funds into their session with a desire to win their chips back.

The correct mentality that you should be looking to adapt is that you have the ability to forget about your previous losses and maintain a strong poker mentality where your decisions are un-detered by past hands, keeping your poker play strong and stable.

If you find that you are unable to stay within a winning poker mindset it is highly recommended that you take a break from the tables, regroup your head and let the negative vibes pass through before heading back.

Doing this will mean that you will have a better chance to play your game successfully and most importantly will mean that your judgement will not be clouded by the fact that you have lost a certain amount of your bankroll.

Remain focused on the game in hand

Online poker has a huge following all over the world and many of the big money players spend a huge amount of their time sat at their computers looking to take their opponents money from under their noses.

If you enter into a game without the right level of focus, you will find that your play will suffer, causing your bankroll to take a hit.

Two of the biggest distractions from a players game are tiredness and when they enter into a ’tilt’ frame of mind.

Avoiding the poker tables when you are tired speaks for itself, should you look to play while you are tired you will be more likely to try to play the game too quickly, pushing hands that you would not normally play so aggressively.

A player enters into a ’tilt’ frame of mind when they have experienced a large scale loss, it could be that they have been rivered by someone who entered into a pot with nothing or it could be that they have just seen their pocket aces fall to a low pocket pair.

The knock on effect of losses like this can have a huge impact on a poker players bankroll. Failure to be able to break this mindset will see players losing the whole of their bankrolls.

Take a step back away from the computer and give yourself a break, doing so will mean that your judgement will be restored and you can be back to your best.

Play your poker in a suitable location

We have all fallen short of this tip at least once and have then realised that we aren’t going to be subject to it again.

When you play poker online, you should be in a position that you are willing to spend a number of hours in because a successful poker session will see you sat at your computer for a number of hours.

Failure to make sure that you are comfortable while playing means that your concentration on the game will be broken, something that can be costly at the best of times.

You could find that you need to adjust your seat or your posture and find that you have missed how a player has handled their action, did they quickly call a raise? Did they have to request time to make the call? Both of these small actions reveal a large amount of information to experienced players.

Keep both your head and your eyes on the game at all times while your playing and you will find that you begin to see patterns within your opponents play, something that you can use against them for your financial gain.

A complete guide for 7 Card Stud players that are interested in 2-7 Triple Draw, which is included in 8-Game Mix, the most popular mixed poker game.

This post may not be very interesting to most of my readers as this is a Stud poker website but I just launched a website on 2-7 Triple Draw ( http://www.2-7tripledraw.com ) and of course want to give it some publicity. Now that I think about it some of you may very well be interested in this classic card game. The reason for this is yet another card game, this time a variant, known as 8-Game Mix. This is a mixed poker game available only at Poker Stars. In 2009 it went from being a new mixed poker game with limited availability to the most played mixed poker variant online, beating even H.O.R.S.E poker.

8-Game Mix includes all of the popular poker games including all 3 betting formats, fixed, pot and no limit. Here is a look at the game line-up:

Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

Limit Texas Hold’em

Limit Omaha Eight or Better (Hi/Lo)

Razz Poker

Limit Seven Card Stud

Limit Stud Eight or Better (Hi/Lo)

No Limit Texas Hold’em

Pot Limit Omaha

I’ve mentioned this several times before but Stud poker players are typically the best mixed game players out there. This is because most mixed variants include at least one Stud poker variant and these games are usually the “weak spots” for most players, especially Razz. 8-Game Mix includes all 3 Stud versions so if you can handle your own in Hold’em and the Omaha games you can make a killing.

The only problem with 8-Game Poker from a Stud poker player’s perspective is 2-7 Triple Draw. What the hell is 2-7 Triple Draw? Full Tilt doesn’t offer it, Party Poker doesn’t offer it. Where did it come from? needless to say this game has prevented many Stud players from taking advantage of the loose action at the 8-Game Mix tables.

True, you can sit out during the 2-7 Triple Draw rotation or just fold every hand but there is a better way. Learning how to play a game as alien as 2-7 Triple Draw can be pretty intimidating, especially since it is nothing like Stud, Omaha or Hold’em. Having to draw is bad enough but this game features 3 draws and its a lowball game. It gets even weirder, the rules of 2-7 Triple Draw state that:

Aces are always high

Straights count

Flushes count

So 2-7 Triple Draw is very complex. It is important to remember though that complexity in a card game is a good this. The harder a game is the more you can win. Stud players are the most intelligent players in the poker community so mastering this game shouldn’t be a problem.

This is why I created a website about 2-7 Triple Draw. Currently it only contains the basic articles covering the rules, strategies and hand selection. It contains everything you need to know to get you started though. Here some links that you may find useful:

2-7 Triple Draw rules

For $1 you have the chance to take part in the largest online poker tournament in history. This tournament will be hosted at Pokerstars on December 27th and every player will receive a special certificate. In addition to the certificate this tournament will have an estimated $150,000-$200,000 overlay and will pay the top 30,000 players.

Pokerstars recently announced that they will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the largest poker tournament. This record is based on the number of player’s participating in the event, not the prize pool. Pokerstars has held the world record almost exclusively in the last few years with the exception of a few hours back in July when FullTilt Poker held the record. Some quick thinking and cut-throat marketing from Pokerstars ensured that they would take record back only a few hours later though.

Currently the record is 65,000 players. Pokerstars is most likely going to put the record well out of Full Tilt Poker’s reach so that they won’t have to worry about any challengers for the next few years.

The tournament has guaranteed prize pool of $300,000. The only real challenge Poker Stars will face is technical in nature. They will probably have an 30-40% increase in traffic during the tournament. During peak hours they boast over 250,000 players on an average day which is an amazing achievement in it’s own right.

On December 27th at 14:45 ET the tournament will begin. I’m guessing that Pokerstars will cap the tournament at 100,000 players so the overlay will be $200,000…I could be wrong though. In any event though they won’t be able to hit the 300,000 player mark so an overlay is guaranteed. The first place prize for this event is a cool $50,000 and the tournament will pay the top 30,000 players.

This event only costs $1 to enter and you can even win a seat via satellites that cost as little as 5 FPP or $.10.

If you do not have an account at Pokerstars USE THIS LINK to visit Pokerstars and download their free software. While you are in the process of registering you will be required to enter a marketing code. Click on the “Friend Referral” option and enter the Poker Stars promotion code PSP11820. If you decide to make a deposit enter the bonus code STARS600. These codes will give you the following first deposit bonus:

- 100% bonus on your first 3 deposits (Max $600)

A recap of the Mini FTOP Stud 8/b event and an overview of the Razz poker event taking place tomorrow. Unfortunately for some reason Full Tilt Poker has decided not to host a 7 Card Stud event this year despite the level of success they have had with Stud events in previous years.

The Mini Full Tilt Online Poker Series has been running since the 9th of December. This post will cover the results for the Stud 8/b tournament. The event was the $20+2 7 Card Stud 8/b event which ran on December 11th. This event had a $30,000 GTD prize pool which was surpassed by over $10,000. This is one of the largest 7 Card Stud H/L tournaments in recent history and there were plenty of Full Tilt Pros at the tables.

Full Tilt Poker review

2,092 players signed up for this event and 256 of them cashed in a peice of the $41,840 prize pool. From start to finish this Stud 8/b tournament was an exhausting 9 hours long. I can’t even imaging playing for that long, especially a split pot game. Here are the results for the top 10 finishers:

1. vmendi123 - $7,949
2. TheKunkMaster - $4,895
3. Bklyn4life - $3,347
4. MalaParis - $2,259
5. skinnyriver - $1,548
6. key123 - $1,046
7. Donkeysrule0 - $711
8. Andreasice - $510
9. Ken_DoG_819 - $367
10. TheFatFISH- $367

As many of you know when you knock a Red Pro out of a tournament you will receive the buy-in back as a bonus. There were 11 total Full Tilt Pros in this 7 Card Stud H-L tournament and overall they did well. 5 out of 11 finished in the money while mathematically only 1 out of eight players on average should. This was one of the better tournaments for Red Pros. In the H.O.R.S.E poker event (#14) none of the 20 Red Pros cashed. Here is a breakdown on which professional players played in this event and how they finished:

Berry Johnston - 12th

Esther Rossi - 20th

Roy Winston - 64th

Alan Boston - 81st

S Gromenkova - 153rd

Aaron Bartely - 505th

Scott Fischman - 544th

Michael Craig - 753rd

BrunoStefaneli - 986th

Artie Cobb - 1681st

David Bradely - 1918th

Upcoming Razz Poker Tournament (Event #21) - Tomorrow!

The Razz poker tournament in the Mini FTOPS will be held on the 18th at 21:00 ET. The host for this event will be Frank Thompson and the guaranteed prize pool is set at $30,000. There are only 216 players currently registered and with a $30+3 buyin there is currently a $23,000 overlay for this event! Surely this number will go down considerably before the tournament starts but I am still predicting an overlay ranging from $5,00-10,000.

Full Tilt Poker review

Where Is The 7 Card Stud Mini FTOPS Event?

For some reason Full Tilt Poker has decided not to include 7 Card Stud in their Mini FTOPS line-up. The reason behind such an oversight has eluded me. Stud is a very popular game at Fulltilt and their standard 7 Card Stud tournaments always bring in a lot of players.

As a 7 Card Stud player I feel like the fat kid that never gets picked in sports. Out of 25 events Texas Hold’em accounts for 17 of them, in different formats of course (6 max, NL, FL, Turbo..ect). They couldn’t replace one of these repetitous Holdem tournaments with a Stud tournament to include all of the major games?

In last year’s Mini FTOPS they offered a $20+2 Card Stud tournament and it had a turnover of 1,908 players. I have written Full Tilt an email about this and will make a new post about it when they reply. It probably won’t accomplish much but it is better than nothing. I just can’t believe they would not include Stud in their line-up. I will keep you posted.
